What is FOAKS?
We are the Friends of Ab Kettleby School (FOAKS), and our aim is provide a link between the parents, the school, and the community, in order to ensure a pleasant and stimulating environment for the children, and to provide additional resources, experiences and facilities through our fundraising activities and events.
FOAKS is made up of the parents of the children of Ab Kettleby Primary School and we are always looking for new members who can contribute in any way. We meet regularly to discuss ideas for fundraising, and events that we have held include an Easter Fayre, stall at the Christmas Lights switch on in Melton, Halloween Party and Summer Fayre. The events not only help to raise money for use by the school, but also provide an opportunity for parents, staff and pupils to get together.
How is FOAKS organised?
All parents of children at the school are automatically members of FOAKS. The management of the Association is vested in an elected Committee of four key members, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Honorary Secretary and Honorary Treasurer, along with several others. The Committee is elected at the Annual General Meeting, usually held in September.
How does FOAKS raise money?
Our money is raised through events, such as Christmas and Summer Fayres. Fundraising initiatives such as 100 miles Virtual Group Run also provide significant contributions. We also take part in EasyFundraising and Bags2School schemes, which help to top up our income. See our Fundraising and Events pages for more details.
How is the money spent?
The funds raised by FOAKS are intended to pay for ‘extras’ for the school and children, which are not part of the school’s main budget. Examples include the outdoor table tennis table, and outdoor gym equipment, Book-bags for new starters. The Financial page has the latest information.
